Statkraft acquires E-WALD

Teisnach/Düsseldorf, 23. August 2019. Statkraft, Europe’s largest producer of renewable energy and the German system provider for electromobility in public and private spaces, announced today that Statkraft will hold 100% of the shares in the Bavarian e-mobility specialist E-WALD acquires. The acquisition strengthens the position of the Norwegian energy company in the German and European e-mobility market. Statkraft had already acquired the majority stake in eeMobility last year.

The e-mobility specialist E-WALD GmbH, based in Bavaria, is a Germany-wide provider of charging stations and car sharing for electric vehicles. The company operates around 300 charging stations and offers companies and municipalities with a total of more than 7,000 customers services relating to e-car sharing, fleet management and the operation of charging infrastructure for electric cars.

The takeover of E-WALD strengthens Statkraft’s position in the field of electromobility in Germany and complements last year’s investment in eeMobility, a provider of charging solutions for company fleets.

“In our view, E-WALD has good prerequisites to continue growing in Germany in the area of e-mobility. We look forward to supporting the E-WALD team in their ambitious growth plans, “said Bjørn Holsen, Senior Vice President for New Business at Statkraft.” The company complements our existing portfolio in Germany very well and strengthens our growth goals in German E Mobility market. ”

In the course of the transaction, the company headquarters of E-WALD in Teisnach as well as the entire team will be retained. The E-WALD brand, which is established throughout Germany, will also continue as before. Managing Director of E-WALD GmbH, Otto Loserth says: “This acquisition is an important and logical step for the development of E-WALD GmbH from a regional project company into a nationwide company. With Statkraft we have an experienced and financially strong partner who supports us in further growth and appreciates the cooperation with the predominantly municipal founding partners of the region. ”

Statkraft is striving to become a leading e-mobility provider in selected growth markets in Europe. Thanks to its long-standing participation in the Norwegian charging station operator Grønn Kontakt in a market with the highest proportion of electric vehicles in the world, Statkraft feels well equipped to bring its expertise and experience to other European markets in the form of partnerships with leading start-ups.

Both companies have agreed not to disclose details of the transaction.
